Licorice Borgia Donizetti

El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, Valencia

Murder, frivolity and spiritual dignity: no other noble family has been involved in so many scandals like the Borgians. Conductor Fabio Biondi and director Emilio Sagi introduce Lucrezia Borgia to the Palau de les Arts scene in Valencia, the home town of the Borgians. The story of the mysterious descendant of the family has been fascinating for centuries. Inspired by the work of Hugo Donizetti, he also tried to present his version of the story, which resulted in a beautiful and unusual opera. Lucrezia Borgia is a story about a strong woman, aware of her virtues, holding power and disposing of her subjects. Lukrecja Borgia entangled in a network of love intrigues tries to save the only person she really cared for. However, the final of the story is cruel. The beautiful bel canto and the power of dramatic expression, as well as the masterly directed direction, are without doubt the qualities of the extraordinary work presented to you.

A performance with English subtitles.

Madama Butterfly / Puccini

Teatro Real, Madrid

Madama Butterfly is one of the most famous operas. Puccini drew inspiration from traditional Japanese music, which he combined with adaptation of John Luther Long's short novel and composed one of the most refined operatic works. His heroine Cio-Cio-San is a woman torn between two worlds: between eastern and western culture, between tradition and modernization. Her affection for her husband, who abandons her without restraint, caring for her son, whom he loses and suicidal deaths are the most famous story of despair and longing for feeling.

Director Mario Gas appoints a new interpretation of this opera on the Teatro Real stage at the 1930 Art Gallery in Madrid. Gas launches the show with the addition of a film crew, offering two interpretations: the game in front of the camera and the actual content of the opera.

27.07.2017 / 20:00

Arminio / Haendel

Arminio is a little-known Haendel opera, which originally talks about Arminius, a descendant of Germanic leaders who were taken hostage by the Romans. The story is based on the emotional tear of the main character between loyalty and attachment to tribal identity. Moreover, Arminio falls in love with the daughter of his enemy, and this is just the beginning of the problems that pile up in his path. Love, duty, patriotism and honor are the foundations of the content of the work. Arminio, during the life of the composer, was only released on the premiere, thanks to the production of the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe gaining a new release. The long-sought counterattack Max Maximan Cenčić - surrounded by an outstanding ensemble of singers - not only sings the title role, but also directs the production. This all contributes to the unqualified success of this realization.

A performance with French inscriptions.
